Servicing and Repairs
We undertake routine servicing and repairs on most domestic and foreign cars and trucks. We carry out tune-ups, lube, brake and suspension jobs as well as general repairs on almost any car but needless to say we love old British jalopies.
Restoration
The restoration of classic car should not be undertaken lightly. While it can be very satisfying to return a sad old thing to its former glory, the pathway is a veritable minefield and many projects quite literally end in tears. We have undertaken numerous projects over the years, many of which have become award-winning show cars. If you are considering a restoration please give us a call. We'll give you an honest estimate of the work and the time and costs involved - who knows we may save you from divorce, bankruptcy or both!
Tuning and Motorsport
At Mel's Auto Repair we are, first and foremost, car enthusiasts and perhaps unsurprisingly we have a lifelong interest in motorsport as both spectators and participants. In addition to preparing a number of cars for vintage racing and rallying we have undertaken our own tuning work. If you want to upgrade your car's performance please give us a call. In collaboration with Mel's son, Chris, at Danzio Engineering we can undertake almost any project. So if you just want a less asthmatic cylinder head on your classic or a fire-breathing monster with forced induction and a fully mapped injection system don't hesitate to contact us. The possibilities are endless. Please bear in mind that we will never fit a tuned engine in an unsafe car and that performance work requires a holistic view of the vehicle, particularly with regard to its brakes, suspension and steering.
Bodywork and Paint
We undertake all kinds of small bodywork repairs, modifications and the fitting of accessories. We also work closely with several reputable bodyshops and can arrange collision repairs and full repaints - to show quality if desired.
